Cuban and Laotian Foreign Ministers hold official talks

Vientiane, October 3, 2025.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, held official talks with comrade Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.In a fraternal atmosphere, both parties highlighted the results of President Díaz-Canel's recent visit to Laos, as well as the agreements reached during Prime Minister Manuel Marrero's visit in 2022, which significantly promote economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.The Cuban Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Laos' steadfast support in the fight against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States government, and for including Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism. He particularly highlighted the statement of condemnation by the Prime Minister of Laos during the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Comrade Vanhtha Sengmeuang, Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Republic of Cuba; Comrade Ekkaphab Phanthavong, Director General for Europe and the Americas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Comrade Keopaseuth Chanthaphim, Permanent Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Comrade Chatoulin Sihaphom, Director for the Americas, Europe, and the Department of the Americas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the Cuban side, present were the Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernández; the Director for Asia and Oceania, Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez; and other officials from the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
