The ties of brotherhood between journalists from Cuba and Vietnam were ratified during the celebrations for the centenary of the Revolutionary Press of the Asian country, said today the vice-president of the UPEC, Juan Carlos Ramirez.
At the head of the Cuban delegation, which attended the events for the date, Ramirez also highlighted the closer ties between the Association of Journalists of Vietnam (AVJ) and the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), whose guilds already have a long-standing relationship, he recalled.
The Cuban delegation, which arrived on Wednesday in the capital’s airport, José Martí, was received by UPEC president Ricardo Ronquillo and first vice president, Bolivia Tamara Cruz, after fulfilling an intense agenda in Hanoi and other cities of the Asian nation.
During the events they held fruitful exchanges with representatives of the AVJ and Vietnamese colleagues attending the National Press Festival 2025, as well as with the Cuban ambassador, Rogelio Polanco, highlighted the vice-chancellor of the guild.
During the meetings, the support of the media from the Caribbean island to the heroic struggle of Vietnam for its liberation and against the foreign invasion, and the training of young Vietnamese as journalists on the island went beyond.
They also highlighted the continuous exchange of delegations from both countries in order to learn about the experiences of the press participation in the construction of socialism according to the characteristics of each nation.
The representation also included the journalist and academic Ana Teresa Badía, the presidents of the organization in the provinces of Guantánamo and Artemisa, Taimí Fernández and Odalis Acosta, respectively, as well as the editor of Escambray newspaper, Yoleixy Pérez.
Cuban journalists completed a program of tours through historical and cultural sites including the Temple of Literature, the new Museum of Vietnam´s Military History.
