Cuban artist living in Turkey participates in gala tribute to Nazım Hikmet

The Cuban artist Hakely Nakao, resident in Turkey, participated in an artistic gala organised in homage to the great Turkish poet Nazım Hikmet at the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall of the Ataşehir Municipality in Istanbul, to commemorate the 59th anniversary of his death.
The gala concert was attended by renowned artists, writers, art lovers and lovers of the life of the prominent Turkish poet, as well as local government authorities and a group of friends of the Turkish Association of Friendship with Cuba "José Martí".
Hakely Nakao, who is also a member of the Association of Cubans "Raíces", performed together with the Youth Orchestra of the municipality the song "Neo Caminos", a Spanish adaptation of her own of Nazım Hikmet's poem "Bulut Mu Olsam", premiered especially for the occasion.
The Antillean artist received the acceptance and applause of those present in the large concert hall who accompanied the ovation with the phrase "Viva Cuba", an expression of the friendship between the Cuban and Turkish peoples.
Nazım Hikmet is considered to be the most important Turkish language poet of the 20th century. His works have been translated into many languages. This intellectual was one of the great renovators of contemporary Turkish poetry and a great friend of the Cuban national poet Nicolás Guillén. He visited Cuba in 1961, where he showed sympathy and enormous admiration for the nascent revolutionary process on the Antillean island.
