Stockholm, March 8th. In the aniversary of International Women's Day, the Cuban consul in Sweden, Laura Moriña Medina, participated in a meeting convened by the Network of Solidarity with Latin America and the Caribbean (RESOCAL) in Stockholm.
Moriña Medina highlighted Cuba's progress in promoting female empowerment, including the majority presence of women in the Cuban parliament. She also mentioned the objectives of the National Program for the Advancement of Women, which since 2021 has been established as the institutional rector of the full insertion of women in all facets of Cuban society, demonstrating the political will of the government in this regard.
All these achievements have been reached despite an adverse external context, marked by the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the US government against Cuba and the inclusion of the island on the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
