Oslo, October 21, 2024. This Saturday, members of the Norway-Cuba Friendship Association and the Communist Party of Norway, fellow nationals and friends from Latin American countries living in this city, joined the Embassy staff in an evening to mark the Day of the Cuban Culture, established in commemoration of the date of October 20, 1868, when of our National Anthem was sung for the first time.
The Ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres, recalled the aforementioned historical event and, as the best tribute on the occasion of its 156th anniversary, invited those present to listen to and sing the glorious notes of the Hymn of Bayamo.
With the intention of exalting the Cuban cinema, for its valuable contribution to the Cuban culture throughout all these years of Revolution, those present enjoyed the excellent film "Kangamba", by director Rogelio Paris. Prior to the screening, Paulius Eidukas read the reflection that Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz wrote about the film in September 2008.
When she took the floor, the Ambassador referred to the energy emergency that Cuba is going through, which has its main cause in the intensification of the economic war and the financial and energy persecution of the United States, which makes it difficult to import fuel and other resources necessary for that industry.
“The current contingency shows us that we cannot give up in our fight for the lifting of the US blockade and the removal of our country from the list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism, because they are causing a great damage to the economy and the living conditions of the population,” the diplomat stated.
Those present expressed support and solidarity with Cuba in the midst of the current situation. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
