The Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in the Republic of Türkiye, Oscar Redondo Ramos, gave a lecture at the Center for Latin American Studies at Ankara University on Cuban culture and history, as part of a day dedicated to Cuban culture.
During the exchange, Oscar Redondo addressed the different moments in Cuban history that have shaped its cultural development and identity as a nation. He also referred to the principles and qualities that characterize Cubans, highlighting the defense of sovereignty and independence. He mentioned the main figures in the development of Cuban history, among whom he highlighted the apostle, José Martí, and the Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro.
The Counselor concluded his remarks by referring to the current situation in Cuba, underscoring the impact of the blockade imposed by the United States government on the island's economic and social development. He addressed the recent results of the vote on the resolution entitled “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba” in the United Nations General Assembly, and highlighted the international support enjoyed by the Cuban people in their confrontation with the US siege.
The exchange was enjoyable, with students showing interest in Cuba's history and current affairs. The Director of the Center, Prof. Dr. Zeynep Kayacik, also participated in the meeting, as did Ms. Belkis Yaisy Zulueta Morciego, member of the Presidency of the Honorary Chair of History and Culture of Türkiye at the University of Havana.
