The painter Svetlana Booth donates one of her works to the Embassy As part of the activities in honor of the Cuban Culture Day, an emotional event, well attended, took place at the "Project" Art Space Gallery, which highlighted by the presence of artists, intellectuals, diplomats, entrepreneurs, and other figures. Also there were the President of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba, member of Parliament George Amyras; the Director of North America, South America, and the Caribbean in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Loukas Karatsolis; and other officials of this body. The event, organized jointly by the Gallery and the Cuban Embassy, was endorsed by other entrepreneurs and friends. The painter Svetlana Booth offered to the Ambassador Aramís Fuente Hernández a painting called "Cuba my own beginning," which is an homage, according to her words, to "the sparkled island where I was born," and its rhythm, color, and warmth have not parted from her. In her warm and emotional words, the renowned artist of Russian descent, who was born in Cuba and now lives in Greece, recalling that she had recently found her birth certificate through some Cuban friends, said: ´´Holding it in my hands, I realized that something inside me had become a perfect circle. I understood the meaning of the Cuban soul, the soul of Cuba, and what it means to be a daughter of Cuba who returns: a daughter of Cuba who finds her way back, not through distance, but through memory, gratefulness, and love." “The painting I offer tonight, ‘My Own Beginning,’” the artist asserted, “is more than an image of an island; it is visible memory, emotion transformed into form. It bears the colors and pulse of the place where I began, bright and vivid. By donating it today, in commemoration of the Cuban Culture Day, I honor my roots and celebrate the golden thread that links Havana and Athens, Cuba and Greece.” In heartfelt words, the Ambassador thanked all those who made this homage possible, and especially Svetlana for her beautiful gesture and her immaculate love for the land of her birth and which continues to consider her as a true and faithful daughter. Similarly, underlined the significance of the Cuban Culture Day, which commemorates the date on which the Cuban national anthem was sung for the first time. The Chilean poet, Jaime Svart read a poem of his authorship dedicated to the Commandante en Jefe, Fidel Castro, in the context of the commemorative day of the centenary of his birth. Members of the Cuban community living in Greece also attended the event and the Cuban singer Ismaray Hernández Kessell delighted the attendants with beautiful melodies from the cuban musical heritage.
