Cuban delegation attends the Santiago Network Workshop for Small Island Developing States and Least Developed Countries of the Caribbean.

The Cuban delegation, comprised of Amneris Santos Hernández from the General Staff of the Cuban Civil Defense and Jesús Martín Pérez and Yolaisys Ávila López, both from the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, attended the Santiago Network Workshop for Small Island Developing States and Least Developed Countries in the Caribbean. They were accompanied by the Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, Yanet Stable Cárdenas.

The event, held from May 5 to 7 of this year, was sponsored by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction and the Caribbean Development Bank. It facilitated the exchange of experiences and provided insights into how to interact with the Santiago Network. This network catalyzes technical assistance from various stakeholders to help developing countries avoid, reduce, and address the losses and damages caused by climate change.

Given the urgent need to develop more effective early warning, response, and recovery mechanisms following the impact of natural disasters, Cuba is expanding its ties for better preparedness and contributing to the benefit of the Caribbean in this crucial area of essential interest and cooperation among all countries in the region.
