Kingston, 24 July 2025. The Cuban delegation participating in the 30th Session of the Assembly of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) denounced the negative impact of the United States government's blockade against the island, describing it as archaic and immoral.
In his intervention under item 8 of the agenda, Cuba's Permanent Representative to this international organisation, Ambassador Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, outlined the effects of this genocidal policy and the unjustified and arbitrary inclusion of our country on the unilateral and illegal list of states that allegedly sponsor terrorism; which deprive the Cuban people of free access to resources and financing for the full development of their economy and free trade with other nations, and significantly affect the most basic rights of our citizens and those of third countries.
The Cuban diplomat reiterated his country's commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and to the work carried out by the ISA as the governing body for the exploitation of mineral resources and the safeguarding of the common heritage of humanity on the seabed.
The 30th Session of the International Seabed Authority Assembly is being held in this city from 21 to 25 July 2025.
