On May 17, after the event held in Bridgetown, Barbados, for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in integrated disaster risk management, the Cuban delegation that participated in the event held a bilateral meeting with executives of CDEMA (Caribbean Disaster Management Agency) and the Barbados Department of Emergency Management.
The Cuban delegation integrated by Colonel Gloria E. Gely Martinez, Head of the Department of Disaster Reduction and Marbelis Rodriguez Azhares, Head of International Collaboration, of the General Staff of Civil Defense (EMDC) of our country and the Ambassador of Cuba in Barbados, Yanet Stable Cardenas addressed various issues of common interest to all parties.
They exchanged on the experience that Cuba has demonstrated in disaster risk prevention and the work deployed at the community level to educate our population to preserve life and minimize the loss of material goods. Both institutions showed interest in continuing exchanges with Cuban institutions to materialize cooperation and integration in disaster risk reduction management and climate resilience.
