Cuban delegation of the Institute of Friendship with the Peoples holds a meeting with the Vice Mayor of Gothenburg.

Gothenburg, March 10, 2023- As part of the meetings planned during his stay in Sweden, the Director for Europe of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Rigoberto Zarza Ross, paid a courtesy visit to the Gothenburg City Hall .

In the meeting with the Vice Mayor, Mr. Håkan Eriksson, and with the Head of the Department for City Development, Henrik Levin, Zarza conveyed the message of friendship for the Cuban people and the importance of developing ties. He also conveyed the will of the Cuban side to strengthen relations with the largest port city in the country.

In the exchange, which took place in a relaxed atmosphere, Zarza Ross was accompanied by the Ambassador of Cuba in Sweden, Alba Soto Pimentel; a representation of the Swedish-Cuban Friendship Association in the figure of its national coordinator, Martin Osterling; and by Elizabeth Ribalta, an official of the ICAP European Directorate.

The Director of ICAP transmitted information on the current situation on the Island and the effects on the country due to the unfair blockade of the United States, while the Ambassador of Cuba thanked the swedish favorable vote for the Cuban Resolution against the blockade and explained the consequences of the unfair inclusion of Cuba in the list of state sponsors of terrorism made by the US.

The work carried out by the Swedish-Cuban Friendship Association to strengthen ties with the Island was also discussed.

The Vice Mayor was interested in the development of technical scientific and cultural links in our countries and thanked the delegation for its visit.
