Cuban delegation leads May Day Parade in Grenada

The Workers’ Day celebration in Grenada took place on the island of Carriacou with a parade that covered approximately three kilometers before reaching the stadium where the commemoration was held. Officials from the Cuban Embassy in Grenada, together with representatives of the Cuban state mission, led the march, which included workers and trade union leaders.

Throughout the day, Grenada’s Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, several cabinet ministers, as well as André Lewis, President General of the Grenada Trade Union Council (GTUC), and other union leaders were present. The participation of the Cuban delegation was highlighted as a symbol of the historic solidarity between both peoples and of their shared commitment to defending labor rights.

The event in Carriacou, about 64 kilometers from Grenada’s capital, is part of the tradition of commemorating May 1st as a day of struggle and celebration for workers. In this context, Cuba’s participation reaffirmed the bonds of cooperation and friendship that remain strong between the peoples of the Greater Antilles and the Isle of Spice.

This International Workers’ Day also served as a platform to denounce imperialist hostility against Cuba. Speeches recalled that the blockade and coercive measures imposed by the United States constitute an obstacle to the development of the Cuban people and an act contrary to the principles of solidarity and justice that inspire the May Day celebration.
