CUBAN DELEGATION PARTICIPATES IN THE INFORMAL INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE CONVENED BY THE PGA ON: “PRESERVING HUMAN DIGNITY IN ARMED CONFLICT: PROMOTING COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW”.

This Tuesday, Ivette Lamigueiro Cañedo, official with the Division for Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the informal interactive dialogue convened by the President of the General Assembly on: “Preserving human dignity in armed conflict: promoting compliance with international humanitarian law”. 

The Cuban diplomat highlighted the need to find lasting solutions to humanitarian situations and to address the root causes setting them in motion. In this regard, she stressed the importance of international cooperation and the solidarity between countries to tackle these challenges.

Likewise, she pointed out that our country remains deeply committed to promoting and advocating International Humanitarian Law, which are rigorously promoted and observed by military institutions, various government agencies, academics and the national society of the Cuban Red Cross.

In this respect, she announced the establishment of the Cuban National Committee on International Humanitarian Law in the coming months, which is intended to strengthen the implementation and promotion of these principles in the country.
