Cuban Deputies Condemn Aggression Against Iran

Statement from the International Relations Committee of the National Assembly of People's Power

The members of the International Relations Committee of the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba strongly condemn the aggression by the governments of the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which violates the Charter of the United Nations, International Law, and the sovereignty of states.

We lament the loss of human life caused by the attacks perpetrated since February 28, which have resulted in approximately one thousand deaths and injuries to date. We extend our deepest condolences to the Iranian people, the Government, and the Islamic Consultative Assembly for the assassination of the Supreme Leader of the Persian nation, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other high-ranking members of the armed forces; as well as to the families of the one hundred girls killed in the bombing of a primary school in the city of Minab.

The deliberate attack, while diplomatic efforts were underway to reach an agreement on the nuclear issue of the Islamic Republic of Iran, demonstrates once again that the United States and Israel are the main threat to world peace, and that their philosophy of war seeks to impose hegemonic interests and seize the natural resources of nations.

We call upon parliamentarians worldwide and people of goodwill in the international community to demand respect for the independence and territorial integrity of states; to work urgently for peace; and to call for more decisive and responsible action from international organizations.

Say No to war!

Long live peace and progress for the peoples of the world!
