Kuala Lumpur, marzo 15- The deputy minister of culture, Kenelma Carvajal concluded her visit to Malaysia after participating in the 8th summit of the International Federation of the Councils of Arts and Culture (IFACCA) that took place in this Southeast Asian country , from 10 to 14 March.
Within the framework of the event, the Cuban delegation fulfilled a tight program of activities that included meetings with the executive director of IFACCA, Magdalena Moreno; participation in various workshops, visits to heritage sites such as Malacca and bilateral meetings.
Cuba's contribution to the promotion of cultural rights was recognized by the special rapporteur of the United Nations, Karina Bennoune, which was appreciated by the Cuban delegation. The Cuban vice minister reiterated Cuba's commitment to continue contributing experiences in the implementation of policies that focus on the development of the man and the preservation of the identity.
In relation to bilateral activities, the Cuban Vice Minister paid a courtesy call to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato Isham Ishak, with whom she discussed the possibility of developing bilateral projects of mutual benefit. She also extended him an invitation to visit Cuba and to expand the participation of Malaysian artists in the cultural events organized by the island. The occasion was also favorable to recognize the Malaysian philanthropist Dato Vincent Sim for his support to the promotion of Cuban culture in Malaysia through the exhibition of arts works of Cuban painters at the international fair Art Expo Malaysia, for 16 years without interruption.
The summit was attended by more than 400 delegates from 81 countries.
