Namibia, August 27th, 2021- Aldo Luis Fuentes Acosta, second secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in Namibia, participated in the program “The Political Spectrum”, of the national radio station Eagle FM, hosted by the journalist from Zimbabwe, based in Namibia, Kevin Chiringa.
Over the course of two hours, the Cuban diplomat spoke with his interlocutor about the history of Cuba and bilateral relations with the United States, as well as the national news of the Caribbean island.
In this sense, Fuentes commented on the struggles for Cuban independence during the 19th and 20th centuries, highlighting the stage started by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro in 1953.
Likewise, he mentioned some of the imperialist aggressions suffered by Cuba from the United States. He also explained the damage caused to the Cuban people by the six decades of economic, commercial and financial blockade of the government of that country against Cuba.
In addition, he informed radio listeners about the 243 measures applied by the Donald Trump government to reinforce that US genocidal policy. He denounced how 50 of them were approved in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic and that they are still in force.
Fuentes denounced the international campaign, orchestrated from US territory, to discredit the achievements of the Cuban Revolution.
The diplomat from the Caribbean island informed the Namibian audience that despite the tightening of the blockade, Cuba has been able to develop 3 vaccines against Covid-19, while another 2 vaccine candidates are in development. Likewise, he updated on the epidemiological situation in Cuba, as well as on the efforts of the Government and the Cuban people to control the incidence of Covid-19.
