Cuban diplomats join the launch of a Latin Mural in Wellington

Wellington, May 6th, 2019. Yesterday afternoon, officials of the Embassy of Cuba, headed by the Third Secretary Saimin Fis Abad, took part in the opening ceremony of the Latino Mural in the community of Newtown, which was attended by the Mayor of Wellington, Justin Lester.

The Mural, made by the outstanding Chilean muralist, Alfonso Ruiz Pajarito, reflects the stories and experiences of the Latin American community that have made Wellington their home. It also pays tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks in Christchurch, conveying a message of hope, unity, celebration and respect for diversity and against racism.

Alfonso Ruiz Pajarito is one of the founding members of the muralist movement "Brigada Ramona Parra" of the Communist Party of Chile, established at the beginning of the 70’s, characterized by the creation of beautiful and touching murals with an clear political message. (Embacuba NZ)
