Wellington, 11 of April 2017.- As a result of a cooperation agreement signed in February 2014, a group of four Cuban doctors in their way to provide assistance in the Pacific Islands, completed an English training course, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand.
The ten-week training course, took place at Bay of Plenty English Language School, located in the northern city of Tauranga.
The Cuban doctors are already in the Kiribati and Vanuatu, where they have join the Cuban medical teams present at these nations.
Cuba has developed over the last decade an intense cooperation with the Pacific Islands. Great results have been achieved by Cuban physicians deployed even in remote areas of these Island States and hope is that the almost 200 students from this region could also contribute to higher health standards in their respective countries.
This multilateral cooperation scheme, aims to improve the quality of the service provided by Cuban doctors and could serve the purpose of exploring new joint initiatives. (Embacuba NZ)
