Cuban Embassy celebrates 60 years of Ugandan diplomacy

Kampala. On the night of October 25, the Cuban Embassy celebrated the 60th Anniversary of Ugandan Diplomacy.

The Ambassador of Cuba Tania Pérez Xiqués pointed out as a duty to recognize the long path of 60 years of Ugandan diplomacy, its contribution to the political life of the nation and the ability to overcome new and growing challenges.

She added that next 2024 would be a time of professional growth for Ugandan diplomacy as it assumes the presidency of the G-77 + China group and that of the Non-Aligned Movement.

She considered that, although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the main executor of Ugandan diplomacy, people and institutions were invited that, from her point of view, are also part of that diplomacy that promotes and defends Uganda.

Ambassador Philip Odida, Director of Regional and International Political Affairs of the Ugandan Foreign Ministry, thanked the Cuban Embassy for the gesture, reviewed the main moments in the history of Ugandan diplomacy and highlighted its challenges facing the year 2024.

Likewise, the Ugandan diplomat recognized the contribution and example of Cuba and its diplomacy to multilateral relations.

The Embassy of Cuba delivered a certificate of recognition to the Ugandan Foreign Ministry for its 60th birthday.

The evening featured the Honorable Bigirwa Norah Nyendwoha, Chair of the International Relations Commission of the Parliament of Uganda, the Ugandan Ambassador to Cuba Elizabeth Musazi, Awich Pollar, Director of External Services and Attention to the Diaspora of the ruling party Resistance Movement National, María Odido, vice president of the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations of Uganda and retired ambassador Bernadette Olowo-Frees, president of the association of Ugandans retired from the foreign service.
