Wellington, 11 May 2025 — The Embassy of Cuba in New Zealand proudly took part in the traditional Regatta organized by the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club, a nautical event that brought together 26 boats, many of them representing diplomatic missions accredited in Wellington.
This year, the Cuban representation achieved a commendable 5th place, thanks to the outstanding performance of Captain Mike West and his crew. The Cuban Ambassador expressed his sincere gratitude to Captain West, highlighting his professionalism, sportsmanship, and warm cooperation with the Cuban delegation.
Beyond the competition, the regatta was a valuable opportunity for diplomacy and camaraderie. The event offered a welcoming environment for diplomats and sailors to exchange meaningfully, strengthening cultural ties and mutual respect.
