Cairo, February 19, 2026. The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Egypt conveyed its warm congratulations to Muslims in Egypt and Cuba on the start of the holy month of Ramadan through its social media accounts.
The Cuban diplomatic mission wished peace, health, and prosperity to all those who practice Islam.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. The annual observance of Ramadan is considered one of the five pillars of Islam and lasts from twenty-nine to thirty days, from the new moon to the next new moon.
Fasting lasts from dawn to dusk and is mandatory except for adults with chronic illnesses, those who are traveling, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, diabetics, or women who are menstruating. The first meal must be eaten before dawn and is called zahora, while the evening feast is called iftar. (EmbaCuba Egipto)
