Cuban Embassy in Egypt congratulates Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha

Cairo, June 6, 2025. The Cuban Embassy in Egypt extended sincere congratulations to the Muslim communities of Egypt, Cuba and the world on the occasion of the Feast of Sacrifice (Eid Al-Adha).

The diplomatic representation of the Greater of the Antilles wished peace and prosperity for the Arab peoples and that this moment of rejoicing may be lasting, especially for those, like the Palestinians, who suffer the cruelest of aggressions and the violation of their fundamental rights.

The Aid Al-Adha, also called the Feast of Sacrifice, is the greatest Muslim holiday. This holiday commemorates the passage in the Koran, which shows the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (in the Bible it is Isaac who would be sacrificed) as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened to provide him with a lamb and sacrifice this animal in his place.

This holiday, whose date is not fixed with respect to the Gregorian calendar or the seasons, takes place on the tenth day of the month of Du al-Hijjah (the twelfth and last month of the Muslim calendar, which is seventy days after Id al-Fitr). Aíd al-Adha is part of the Hach, the great pilgrimage to Mecca, which must be performed at least once in a lifetime during this month. (EmbaCuba Egipto)
