Jakarta, October 27- During a virtual meeting, organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Latin American and Caribbean ambassadors accredited in this country held a fruitful exchange with the new Director General for America and Europe of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Ngurah Swajaya.

In the two hours of interactive colloquium, the director of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry announced the celebration of the Second Indonesia-Latin America and the Caribbean Business Forum (INA-LAC) 2020.

He also conveyed his country's willingness to expand trade with our region in the challenging post-pandemic era, for which mutual understanding between government agencies and businessmen on both sides is essential. In this sense, he stated that the forum, to be held virtually from November 9 to 11, pursues the aforementioned purpose, developing a virtual platform that allows exchange between the parties, the dissemination of information, eliminating intermediaries and increasing the scope of companies from both regions.

For their part, the Latin American and Caribbean ambassadors, accredited in Jakarta, referred to the main interests and perspectives of their respective countries in relation to the projected event, while agreeing to reaffirm that it will offer a new window for the identification of potential sectors to work with a view to strengthening the economic-trade and investment relations of our region with Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world, the tenth largest economy in the world and the largest in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The INA-LAC Business Forum is an annual event sponsored by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its first edition took place in 2019, with the aim of promoting economic relations between both regions in the midst of a dynamic global economic situation and as a sign of the close relations and strong commitment between Indonesia and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
