The Cuban Embassy in Malaysia paid tribute to the Honorable Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Kuala Lumpur, April 15, 2025. The Cuban Embassy paid heartfelt tribute to His Excellency Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the National Mosque, along with the authorities and people of Malaysia.

As Prime Minister, Badawi visited Cuba twice: in 2004 and 2006, although he had previously visited the country in 1998 as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

For his outstanding role in expanding and deepening diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, representing the entire Cuban people, awarded our country's highest distinction, the José Martí Order, to the then Honorable Prime Minister Badawi.

In his acceptance speech, he stated that he felt honored, privileged, and moved to receive the José Martí Order from President Fidel Castro, an award he also believed was for Malaysia.

We express our deepest condolences to the family.
