The Cuban Embassy in Nairoi receives directors from Laikipia University

Nairobi, March 21, 2024- The III Secretary of the Cuban embassy to Kenya, Edisleydi Curbelo Garcia, held a meeting with the Vice-chancellor of Laikipia University, Professor Joseph Kibet Rotich, and with the Deputy Vice-chancellor, Professor Charles Nguta.

Laikipia University, a rural institution, was inaugurated in 2013, has more than 7 thousand students and has conceived ambitious projects to promote sports, research and education in general.

During the meeting, the parties agreed on the willingness to explore cooperation interests between the Kenyan University and Cuban institutions. They recognized the existing potential in the sports and cultural fields. Likewise, the special ties that the Cuban diplomatic mission has maintained with the University of Laikipia since 2014, were recalled, and the interest of both parties in carrying out mutually beneficial projects was expressed.

Within the framework of this meeting, the Cuban diplomat gifted an original book of "Fotografías" of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, while remembering his mark on Africa and the power of photography to have its own language and immortalize memories.
