In commemoration of the birth anniversary of Vilma Espín, the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Türkiye participated in an activity organized by the local representation of the World March of Women.
The Cuban delegation was composed of the Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba in Türkiye, Oscar Redondo Ramos, and his spouse, Yorliet Díaz Suárez, who provided an update on current progress and challenges in the field of gender equality and women’s rights in Cuba. During her intervention, she highlighted the country’s achievements in women’s empowerment, as well as public policies aimed at ensuring the full participation of women in all spheres of society.
Participants exchanged views on topics of common interest, including the importance of international solidarity, the fight against gender-based violence, and the promotion of more just and inclusive societies.
Reference was also made to the challenges faced by women in Cuba in the context of the constraints derived from the economic and commercial embargo imposed by the United States, which affects the country’s development and its material and social conditions, including ongoing efforts to further advance gender equality.
