Cairo, October 26, 2026. In celebration of National Culture Day, the Cuban fictional feature film “Clandestinos” was screened yesterday at the Cervantes Institute in Cairo, where it was very well received by the audience.
Cuban Ambassador Alexander Pellicer Moraga gave a brief introduction to the film, in which he highlighted the importance of the clandestine struggles in Cuban cities and their significant contribution to the revolutionary victory on January 1, 1959.
The multi-award-winning Cuban film chronicles the lives of a group of young people who fought against the tyranny of Fulgencio Batista during the 1950s in Cuba.
This film premiered on July 24, 1987, in Artemisa, as a tribute by ICAIC to the Moncada-themed commemoration of July 26 of that year.
The story is based on the life of revolutionary fighter Ángel Machaco Ameijeiras and his wife, Norma Porras. The final battle is based on the clash between Goicuría and O’Farrill at La Víbora, where Norma Porras was wounded and, while pregnant, was arrested and imprisoned as a political prisoner at the Mantilla Women’s Detention Center.
