Delft, June 12, 2024. The film “La Súper”, debut feature by experienced Cuban director Ernesto Piña, kicked off the Delft Latin American Film Week 2024. This presentation is part of the commemoration activities for the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC).
Piña, with “La Súper”, ventures for the first time into the field of feature film to address an important issue such as the fight against gender violence. The film presents Yudeisi, a young woman, whose deep vocation for justice makes her the chosen one to gain incredible powers. These do not come from technology or experiments, but from an Aboriginal warrior who freed the inhabitants of the village from her 500 years ago and whose spirit resurfaces to continue fighting for good.
The audiovisual maintains the aesthetics of its creator's previous productions and combines 2D and 3D animation techniques, although traditional animation predominates. The soundtrack, on the other hand, stands out for a unique mix of diverse rhythms, under the seal of Virgilio Villy González and the popular Cuban group Toques del Río.
