Kuala Lumpur, November 9, 2025. It was a wonderful experience for the Cuban Embassy in Malaysia to participate in the 16th Latin American Festival in Malaysia, an opportunity that strengthens ties of friendship between this Asian nation and Latin America, and showcases the diversity and cultural richness of our peoples.
We thank the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Dato' Seri TPr. Dr. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, for her presence at the Cuban stand and for her kind words recalling her visit to Havana.
Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur vibrated to the rhythm of Latin America with its music and dances, from Mexican folklore, tango, Andean flute, and Bossa Nova, to the rhythm of Havana D' Primera and Los Van Van, who brought the Festival to a standstill, because everyone wanted to see the Rueda de Casino and dance Cuban-style Salsa!
In the photos: Daniela, the Cuban resident, alongside Camila, proudly parading with the Cuban flag; the guys from the Rueda de Casino who long to ride along the Malecón in an old classic car; and at our stand, Evelyn and Sook Fun, who have been the heart and soul of the Cuban Embassy in Malaysia for over a decade, were there yesterday with Octavio, who, in addition to being Consul, also serves as a musician, poet, and…
We appreciate the expressions of solidarity with our people, and in particular with the victims of the hurricane, for whom friends of Cuba in Malaysia are raising funds.
