Cairo, October 8, 2025. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla congratulated Egyptian candidate Khaled El-Enany on his election as the new Director-General of UNESCO via his Twitter account.
In his message, the Foreign Minister of the Greater Antilles reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to continue promoting peace, solidarity, cooperation, sustainable development, and universal access to education, culture, and science.
El-Enany visited Cuba in June of this year, where he carried out an extensive program that included meetings with Minister Bruno Rodríguez and other leaders involved in science, culture, and education in Cuba.
In an interview with Prensa Latina during his visit to the island, the former Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities said that Cuba embodies the founding values of the organization: international solidarity (as with its medical brigades during the pandemic), cultural openness, and commitment to education and science.
He also praised the role of the Caribbean country as “a long-standing member state that brings a distinctive voice, rich in culture, biodiversity, and experience in the fight against climate change.” (EmbaCuba Egipto)
