Cuban Foreign Minister exchanges with the US legal community on the new Family Code.

New York, September 27, 2022. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla met today with representatives of different US legal and civic organizations, with whom he discussed the recently approved Cuban Families Code.

The Minister offered details about the result of the popular referendum that ratified the Code and the benefits that this represents for current Cuban society. For his part, Ambassador Yusnier Romero Puentes, Alternate Permanent Representative of Cuba to the UN, made a presentation on the main milestones of the new Code.

The participants were interested in legal issues related to this process and about the characteristics of current Cuban families.

Organizations represented included: National Coalition Of Concerned Legal Professional (NCCLP); American Association for Justice (AAJ); the International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL); National Lawyers Guild (NLG); Women's Foundation in Puerto Rico; New York City Bar Association (NYCBA); Queens County Women's Bar Association (QCWBA); US Woman and Cuba Collaboration; and the Women's International League for peace and freedom.
