Radio Cadena Agramonte, April 9, 2020.- The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, rejected the approach quoted by the American magazine Newsweeek of a senior Pentagon official, about an alleged drug trafficking operation between Cuba and Venezuela.
In his official Twitter account, the Foreign Minister describes as totally and unfounded slander, with very dangerous consequences, the new campaign of accusations launched by the Washington government against Latin American leaders, including Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and the Cuban Government. "I reject the alleged approach quoted by Newsweek from an unnamed senior Pentagon official, according to which the Intelligence Community has evidence that drugs are trafficked between #Cuba and Venezuela. It is a total and unfounded slander, with dangerous implications”, wrote Rodríguez Parrilla.
Newsweek is a weekly-appearing news magazine, published in New York and distributed in the United States. On March 26, the Washington Department of Justice published alleged narcoterrorism charges against the main figures of the Venezuelan Chavista´s Goberment, and offered a reward of $ 15 million to those who provide information that allows the arrest and prosecution of the Bolivarian president.
Likewise, the US government accused Maduro of plotting a conspiracy with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), to "flood the United States with drugs," the TeleSur website publishes.
In this regard, on April 1, the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, described the claims of the North American government towards Latin American nations, especially Venezuela, as interfering and colonizing. In his official Twitter account, Díaz-Canel reiterated, in addition, that Washington's only attitude towards Latin American countries continues to be wars, threats, lies and aggression against the peoples' sovereignty decision.
In the midst of the situation the world is facing agaisnt COVID-19, the White House continues its campaign of threats, false accusations, sanctions and blockades against various countries around the world, including Venezuela and Cuba, a nation that is currently fighting the pandemic of the coronavirus with brigades in 15 countries.
