Cuban Foreign Minister welcomes Barbados' appeal to the international community

Barbados notes that the Republic of Cuba remains unjustly on the U.S. State Department's list of countries that have been deemed state sponsors of terrorism. It reiterates that there was absolutely no justification for Cuba to be included on that list in January 2021. Likewise, no such justification exists today.

Barbados denounces the fact that this unjust inclusion of Cuba on the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism has caused and continues to cause serious damage to the island's economy and tremendous suffering to the Cuban people. Barbados further notes that the damage caused to Cuba by this unjustified listing increases and amplifies the serious damage inflicted on Cuba by the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States on Cuba for 62 years.

Barbados urges an urgent end to both the designation as a state sponsor of terrorism and the blockade imposed by the U.S. on Cuba so that the harsh conditions that the Cuban people have had to endure for over six decades can be alleviated.

On June 15, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, posted on his twitter account "We appreciate #Barbados' call to put an end to the unjustified inclusion of #Cuba in the list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism and to the criminal blockade imposed by the US against our country, due to the serious damage caused to the Cuban people by the US blockade.
