A Cuban government delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Dr. Marcia Cobas Ruíz made a work visit to Ghana from 20 to 22 January, 2019, where filled out an agenda that included contacts to different levels of the Ghanaian government to strengthen bilateral relations and expand economic-commercial cooperation ties.
The delegation was received by the Vice-President of Ghana, H.E. Mr. Mahamudu Bawumia; it also held discussions with the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu; the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Charles Owiredu; the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Edutwum, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest K. Y. Addison and the Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu.
The Cuban delegation was also composed of Dr. Miladys Orraca Castillo, president of the Cuban Medical Services (CSMC); Mrs. Vivian Bárbara Herrera Cid, General Director of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX); Marta Elena Romero Bermúdez, director of the Banco Financiero International (BFI) and Laura Antonia Vives Castillo, Regional Sales Manager for FarmaCuba; besides the Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Mr. Pedro Luis Despaigne González.
The delegation also contacted members of the staff of the Cuban Embassy, members of the Cuban Medical Brigade (BMC) in the country, Ghanaians graduates in Cuba and Cubans residents in Ghana.
