Cuban health minister holds meeting with Rwandan authorities.

Kigali, April 8, 2024.- The Minister of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba, José Angel Portal Miranda, who is on a government visit to Rwanda to participate in the solemn ceremony for the 30th anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsis, said meetings with authorities of the country.

Portal Miranda was received by the Hon. Mr. Edouard Ngirent with whom he exchanged on the good state of bilateral relations, which this year will reach its 45th anniversary. On the occasion, he thanked the Rwandan government for the support of Cuba within the African Union and the United Nations, in the fight against the blockade imposed by the United States on our people.

He also conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa. He also expressed the honor that it represents for Cuba to have been invited to the solemn ceremony for the 30th anniversary of the genocide in that country, due to the symbolism that peace and reconciliation between peoples represents for the world at this time.

He also held meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Minister His Excellency. Mr. Rwanda, Vicent Biruta and his counterpart the Minister of Health His Excellency. Mr. Sabin Nsanzimana, with whom he spoke about the interest in continuing to strengthen existing ties and ties of cooperation and solidarity.
