Kuala Lumpur, July 22- With the title “Knowing Cuba: 60 years of international collaboration”, the Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Ibete Fernández Hernández, gave a conference in the virtual classroom of the University Technological Institute of Malaysia (UiTM), as part of the activities to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
In the course of the presentation, the ambassador explained about the development of the international Cuban collaboration and its different stages, as well as the most outstanding phases of these with the start of the comprehensive health program, the creation of the Latin American school of medicine and the Henry Reeve Brigade. She also stressed cooperation and internationalism as inherent values of the Cuban nation.
The framework was conducive to highlighting Cuba's work against the covid 19 and how despite the economic difficulties imposed by the blockade, the island has continued to provide aid to countries that have requested it and has made available to all the advances in the biotechnology industry to fight the pandemic.
The Cuban diplomat reiterated Cuba's interest in expanding relations in the academic sector with universities in Malaysia and particularly with UiTM, the country's largest university.
The session that was organized in virtual form was attended by the rector of the university, international collaboration managers, professors, students and members of the solidarity movement.
