Cuban intellectuals ratify African roots of the Cuban Nation at Pan African Conference

Two Cuba researchers, Zuleica Romay and Samuel Furé participated in the 2nd Kwame Nkrumah Pan-African Intellectual and Cultural Festival, that was held at the School of Law of the University of Ghana.

The two representatives of the Cuban Academy exchange ideas with the attendants at the Pan-African Festival, created to remind the legacy of the first President of Ghana and important Pan-Africanist leader. They explained in two different Panels the work of the Cuban Revolution in the racial relationship, and recognized the presence of the African roots in the building of the Cuban Nation. The attendants were very impressed with the explanation by the Cuban intellectuals of the participation of 18th blacks Generals in the struggle for the independence against the Spanish colonialism in the XIX Century.

The participants included intellectuals and students from African countries such as Ghana, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria and South Africa. Also were in Accra, intellectuals from the Caribbean States, the United States, Colombia and Brazil, countries with important Afro descendants in their population. The Embassy of Cuba, was represented by the First Secretary, Julio César Sánchez.
