Cuban Master's and Doctoral Students Participate in Summer School at a Norwegian University

Oslo, June 17, 2025. This June, the Summer School "Critical Theories of the South" took place at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) in Bø, organized by that Norwegian university along with the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Havana (FAYL-UH) as part of the actions planned for this year under the cooperation project "Ecological Connections: Cultural Studies in Cuba and Norway" (ECOCON).

Fourteen Cuban master's and doctoral students participated in this Summer School, receiving a series of lectures with emphasis on different forms of decolonial thought. Haydée Arango Milián and Alejandro Sánchez Castellanos, from FAYL-UH, were among the participants, but in quality of professors.

Also within the framework of ECOCON, the Cuban professionals will participate in the international conference NALAS 2025, summoned by the Norwegian Association of Latin American Studies, to be held on June 19 and 20 at the University of Bergen.

ECOCON is a cooperation project that promotes student and faculty exchanges, as well as research collaboration in literature, linguistics, and cultural studies. It is funded through the NORPART program of the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir). (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
