Havana, 27 Apr (Latin Press) Cuba and its health professionals are a pillar of international solidarity, because with their altruism and heroism they destroy all the fallacy of smear campaigns for their work, health authorities said today.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Marcia Cobas, said that members of the International Contingent of Specialized Physicians in Disaster situations and Serious Epidemics Henry Reeves are part of 22 brigades, working in 24 countries to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
He stated that these are in addition to the 61 countries already working in equal numbers of countries as part of Cuba's historical medical cooperation selflessly, as part of its internationalism and solidarity. Cobas clarified that all these brigades have been sent by decisions of the Cuban government based on official requests and analysis of the real proposals, conditions and possibilities, without abandoning the quality care and with the necessary resources of the Cuban population.
Despite discredit campaigns and manipulation of public opinion in the United States, these two thousand 30 health professionals traveled voluntarily and have already cared for more than five thousand 500 patients in areas of isolation, hospitals and red areas at the risk of their own health and lives, highlighted.
In this cooperation, she stated, scientific exchange, training and advice, exchange of protocols for action and treatment, which is also a show of collaboration, has been taken into account.
It further clarified that it was established on the basis of the United Nations' conceptions of complementarity among developing countries and the compensation of the services provided, sharing expenses and guaranteeing the full salary of Cuban staff here in the country.
All countries to which Cuba provides this assistance to confront Covid-19 have assumed the transportation, accommodation and feeding of medical brigades in order to contribute to the sustainability of our health services.
All these gestures and displays of cooperation destroy the attacks and misrepresentations about what is the true solidarity and detachment of Cuban health professionals, the Deputy Minister emphasized.
