Cuban movie "El Techo" inaugurates the Latin American and Spain Film Festival in Palmerston North

Palmerston North, October 13th, 2018. - With the exhibition of the film "El Techo" by the young Cuban director Patricia Ramos, kicked off the 17th Latin American and Spain Film Festival (LASFF) in this city of New Zealand.

The festival was part of an intense day featuring Latin culture and traditions, in which music, rhythms and dance were the core of diverse performances organized by the local community. Among them, the well-known Batucada "Samba ao Vento" and the salsa band C-26.

This Fiesta Latina was organized by the City Council, the City Library and the School of Humanities at Massey University, running together with an exhibition by Cuban artist Analía Amaya, which resulted in large and enthusiastic crowds enjoying a Latin evening with a heavy Cuban flavour.

Deputy Head of Mission from the Cuban Embassy, Ms Saimin Fis Abad, was in charge of the Film Festival opening remarks, in which she expressed gratitude for the local authorities and community support, making Palmerston North one of the best hosts of Latin events and especially LASFF. (Embacuba NZ)
