The municipality of Kartal of this great Turkish city and the Association of Friendship with Cuba "José Martí" organised last Monday a popular carnival in a central square of this locality that they called "Cuba in the streets of Istanbul", in which the group of Cuban musicians settled in the Eurasian country "EsembleCubafónica", directed by Cuban resident Hakely Nakao, participated as a guest.
The artistic event was part of a day of celebrations for the Day of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, father of Turkish independence, and of Youth and Sport in Turkey, which is commemorated every 19 May in this country.
During the celebration, the Antillean artists delighted those present with typical Cuban rhythms and dances which were well received by the Turkish public participating in the activities planned for this day.
This event was another occasion to promote Cuban music and dances in Turkey, as well as to strengthen the cultural ties that unite both peoples.
