Cuban music to celebrate visit of Che Guevara to Indonesia

Jakarta, September 26th - The young Cuban pianist Lianne Vega Serrano gave a concert at the Auditorium of the National Library of Indonesia this Thursday, September 26th . With this presentation, the Cuban Embassy in Indonesia commemorated the 60th Anniversary of Che's visit to the Southwest Asian nation.

The evening program included interpretation of Argentine pieces, Cuban classics, as well as a selection of works by the Indonesian composer Jaya Suprana, whose Foundation sponsored the trip Lianne Vega to Jakarta.

Vega Serrano said: "I am very happy and grateful to be here before you and I want to thank in a special way the Jaya Suprana School Performig of Arts and the Embassy of Cuba, for all the effort they have made to offer this concert"

Among the audience were artists and personalities from Indonesia, members of the accredited diplomatic corps, and students from several Indonesian universities.

A special moment of the evening was the interpretation of the soprano Laura Muñoz, a Cuban resident in Indonesia, who gave the public the pieces "El abanico" by Eduardo Sánchez de Fuentes and "Mi vida eres tu" by Ernesto Lecuona.

Che Guevara arrived to Indonesia on July 28, 1959, as part of his tour of countries in Asia and Africa. This visit is considered the first high-level contact between Indonesia and Cuba and the precursor moment for the establishment of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Cuba.
