Cuban musicians headline Latino Festival of Rotterdam

Rotterdam, August 28, 2017. The second edition of the Latino American Festival of Rotterdam took place between August 23rd adn August 27th and it was dedicated to Cuba.

 

Cuban films such as "Strawberry and Chocolate" and "Memory of Underdevelopment" were screened at the Festival. Likewise, the opening and closing ceremony were headlined by three Cuban musicians who gifted attendees with their music.

 

The trio of Cuban artists was formed by Jazz pianist Ramón Valle al piano, bass player Omar Rodriguez Calvo and drummer Liber Torriente Mirabal.

 

Cuban pianist Ramón Valle has become one of the frontrunners of the Latin Jazz in the last few decades. Renowned Cuban Jazz legend Chucho Valdés once described him as "one of the greatest talents among young pianists."

 

The Ambassador of Cuba in The Netherlands, H.E. Mrs. Soraya Alvarez Núñez, and a representation of the Embassy of Cuba in the Netherlands, attended the opening and closing ceremonies as well as Cuban residents. (Cubaminrex - Consulcuba Rotterdam)
