The Cuban National Ballet visits Denmark

Yesterday afternoon the Cuban National Ballet arrived in Denmark to perform Don Quixote at the Royal Theatre in the heart of Copenhagen, a prestigious venue in the ballet world.

The Alonso trio (Alicia, Fernando, and Alberto Alonso) founded the Cuban National Ballet on October 28, 1948. It is one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world, and it has performed in more than sixty countries on five continents and won the highest awards, including the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris in 1966 and 1970, a unique achievement in the ballet scene today.

On September 20 and 21, the Cuban National Ballet will perform its renowned choreographic version of Don Quixote at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen under the artistic and choreographic direction of legendary prima ballerina Alicia Alonso.

Danish audiences will be able to enjoy performances by a group of talented dancers, all graduates of the Cuban National Ballet School. Among them are the couples Anette Delgado and Dani Hernández, Gabriela Druyet and Anyelo Montero, Grettel Morejón, and Yankiel Vazquez. Other skilled dancers, including Nadila Estrada, Laura Camila, Luis Fernández, Alejandro Alderete, and a talented dance troupe, perform with them.

The three performances, Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st, in the matinee and evening, will be a testament to the beautiful bonds of friendship and collaboration existing between Cuba and Denmark, endorsed by the historical glory of the great Dane, Augusto Bournonville, father of Danish Ballet, and the great Alicia Alonso, a legendary figure of the Cuban Ballet School, now world-renowned. Its current prima ballerina and director, Viengsay Valdés, is now its greatest ambassador.
