Cuban national culture celebrations begins in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur October 9th - As part of the activities to commemorate the day of national culture, the Cuban embassy sponsored a political-cultural activity on October 6.

In the speech given by the Cuban ambassador, Ibete Fernández Hernández, was emphasized the significance of the anniversary as well as its link with the formation of the nation's identity, the determination of Cubans to be free, proclaimed on October 10th, 1868 and especially their capacity for resistance and renewal in to face every challenge. In this sense he referred to two difficult moments in Cuban history that are also commemorated in October: the Barbados crime and the murder of Commander Che Guevara in Bolivia.

The ambassador also stressed that despite their values ​​and nobility, Cuban culture has also been affected by the blockade for almost six decades, preventing it from being enjoyed by the American public.

Parliamentarians, Foreign Ministry officials, Ministry of Tourism and Culture, members of the diplomatic corps, former Malaysian ambassadors in Cuba, businessmen y Cuban residents attended the event where the tobacco fan, visiting Malaysia, Marleny Martin gave a demonstration of the development of Cuban and Malaysian cigars and musicians interpreted rhythms of the island.

The event was co-sponsored by the Malaysian representations of La Casa del Habano, Pacific Cigar, Pernord Ricard and the Friendship Association with Cuba.
