Cuban Parliament approves new Council of Ministers

 The Cuban Parliament on Saturday approved the new Council of Ministers proposed by President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes, Roberto Ojeda, Ines Maria Chapman, Ricardo Cabrisas and Jorge Luis Tapia were ratified as deputy prime ministers, who were joined by Alejandro Gil, who will continue to be the minister of Economy.

The ministers of the Interior, Rear Admiral Julio Cesar Gandarilla; the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), Corp Army General Leopoldo Cintras Frias; Foreign Trade and Foreign Investments, Rodrigo Malmierca; Agriculture, Gustavo Rodriguez; Higher Education, Jose Ramon Saborido; Finance and Prices, Meisi Bolaños, and Justice, Oscar Manuel Silveira, were also ratified.

The ministers of Education, Ena Elsa Velazquez; Culture, Alpidio Alonso; Communications, Jorge Luis Perdomo; Transportation, Eduardo Rodriguez; Public Health Jose Angel Portal, and Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, will remain in their posts.

The new ministers are Juan Carlos Garcia (Tourism), Martha Sabina Wilson (president of the Central Bank of Cuba), Manuel Santiago Sobrino (Food Industry), Eloy Alvarez, (Industry); Nicolas Arrente (Energy and Mines) and Marta Elena Feito (Labor and Social Security).
