Cuban presence in solidarity night with Venezuela in Accra

In the Freedom Center of Accra, was developed a Solidarity Meeting with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, organized by the Socialist Forum of Ghana. The event was attended by: the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic in Ghana, Ms. Belén Teresa Orsini, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Mr. Abdulfatat Alsattari, and the Charge d'Affaires a.i of the Embassy of Cuba, Julio César Sánchez.

The keynote speaker at the Event was the Bolivarian Ambassador, who in intervention referred to the multiform imperialist war facing her country. He said that the reason for that war is to prevent the Venezuelan people from building a society where natural resources are a function of national development. He stressed that the Venezuelan people continue to support the legitimate President of that country, Nicolás Maduro, and reiterate that Venezuela will resist and win because it has: the support of the people, the unity of the Armed Forces, the international solidarity, and especially the example of Cuba, “a country that has not bowed despite being subjected to aggressions since the same year of the triumph of its Revolution”.

In the solidarity interventions towards Venezuela, the Convener of the Socialist Forum of Ghana, Kwesi Pratt, emphasized on a group of imperialist actions against popular processes, including: the murder of Patricio Lumumba in Congo; the coup against President Nkrumah in Ghana; the blockade of Cuba; the coup and the assassination of President Allende in Chile; the recent military aggressions in Iraq and Libya. The leader of the FSG called to increase solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic. For his part, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine ratified the Palestinian support for the Venezuelan people and thanked Venezuela's position for the Palestinian cause.

The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Cuba, during his speech reminded the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, especially for his relationship with Venezuela, with the Bolivian Revolution, and with its founder Commander Hugo Chavez. He emphasized that the Solidarity Activity with Venezuela had the peculiarity of being carried out on the eve of Fidel’s arrival on his 93rd birthday. The Cuban diplomat ratified Cuba's support for the Bolivarian Republic, reiterated in the speeches of the main leaders of the Cuban Revolution, the Army General, Raúl Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermúdez.

The Attendees of the Solidarity Activity, enjoyed the performance of the Freedom Band, and also expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and reiterated their condemnation of the economic blockade suffered by Cuba for more than five decades. The Activity was covered by The Insight newspaper, and the Pan African TV regional television channel.
