Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernandez, personally transmitted the message sent by the President of the Councils of State and of Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, to The Honorable Mia Mottley on the occasion of her election as Prime Minister of Barbados, in which he extends heartfelt congratulations, while expressing "our willingness to continue to strengthen the historic relations between our countries (...) In wishing you success in your important functions, receive the testimony of my highest consideration"; the message is signed in Havana on May 25, the day after the elections, in which Barbados Labor Party (BLP) won a resounding victory over the then ruling Democratic Labor Party (DLP) by setting a record in the post-independence stage, reaching 30 seats in Parliament.
