Cuban President denies terrorism accusations against Cuba

Vientiane, February 10, 2026. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez held a press conference and asserted that Cuba is neither a terrorist country nor a threat to the security of the United States. He argued that the island has never proposed or carried out any aggressive action that would endanger the territorial integrity, security, or stability of the United States government, and that it does not harbor terrorists.

Other evidence shared included the absence of military forces from other nations or groups in Cuba, and the absence of military bases from other countries in the Caribbean nation. "We have military cooperation and military cooperation agreements with friendly countries, with allies; but that in no way means that there are military bases in Cuba," he said.

At another point, he emphasized that there is indeed a military base in Cuba, an illegal military base, and asked, "Whose is it?" It is an illegal US base on Cuban soil in Guantánamo province, against the will of the Cuban people.

Finally, I ask: Who are the ones who have military bases around the world? Who are known for supporting state terrorism globally? Wasn't the aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president an act of state terrorism? Isn't US support for the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza an act of terrorism? Isn't shooting down and disappearing boats and vessels with people on board, who have not been proven to be linked to drug trafficking, extrajudicially, without investigations or evidence, an act of terrorism? So, on whose side is the truth in this world? Which is the main state in the world that truly poses a danger to global security and peace? The United States.
