Cuban Representative Holds Meeting with UNESCO’s Director of Sport in the Framework of the COP10 on Anti-Doping

Paris, 21 October – Within the framework of the Tenth Conference of the Parties (COP10) to the Convention against Doping in Sport, the Cuban representative, José Cedeño Tamayo, held a meeting with UNESCO’s Director of Sport, Philipp Müller-Wirth, with the aim of exchanging views on the main lines of work and ongoing projects in the field of Physical Education and Sport.

During the meeting, initiatives currently being implemented by the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport were discussed, with particular emphasis on priorities such as social inclusion, the fight against racism, the promotion of more active and resilient cities, as well as the Fit for Life project, aimed at strengthening comprehensive public policies in this sector. In this context, Cuba’s experience and leadership in the Latin America and the Caribbean region were highlighted.

Likewise, the importance of ensuring Cuba’s participation in the UNESCO World Forum on Physical Education, to be held on 28 and 29 November in Santiago, Chile, was underscored, as a key space for the exchange of experiences, the strengthening of regional cooperation, and the promotion of inclusive policies in the field of sport.

The meeting reaffirmed Cuba’s interest in continuing to deepen cooperation with UNESCO in the area of Physical Education and Sport, in line with the principles of inclusion, equity, and sustainable development promoted by the Organization.
